What To Pack for a Trip to Disneyland

Are you planning a trip to Disneyland in the near future? If so, you’re in luck! I have taken the guesswork out of what to pack for a worry free and super fun time at Disneyland with the family.

Clothing

If you’re not used to California weather, be prepared to pack for multiple temperatures. It can range from chilly mornings to boiling hot afternoons and early evenings, and then revert back to a chilly night. If your trip is during the summer, a light jacket or sweatshirt should do the trick. I also love a good vest for those in-between temperatures.

Speaking of the heat, you will also need to pack some comfy shorts. I really love these ones  from Athleta. They have the perfect amount of stretch and dry so quickly after those wild water rides. I also love this jumper from Old Navy. It is my go-to outfit for Disneyland.

I also am a huge fan of rocking an athletic dress for a fun day in the sun. This Athleta dress is perfect for a long day at Disney…and it has pockets! If you are like me, I can not wear a dress without my poor legs rubbing together. I never leave home without packing my favorite slip shorts.  They are super lightweight and breathable and keep my legs free from chaffing.

Sometimes, shorts and dresses just don’t sound appealing to me. I also pack a few different pairs of lightweight travel pants. They are super comfortable, they dry crazy quickly, and they are SPF rated for those hot and sunny days. For a bargain, you can check out these ones from Old Navy. For a splurge, I love this pair from Athleta.

As for tops, I usually rock a razorback tank and a sports bra. That’s just my comfort level. However, any top you choose will be great for Disney. Another great top choice would be anything that is SPF rated. It will keep you cool and save you the time of adding sunblock on your shoulders and upper arms.

For those hot days, I bought my husband and myself these cooling hats. You just add water and they stay cool for hours. They really help keep your temperature down for those long days in the sun.

Last, is some proper foot wear. Both my husband and I really love Teva’s for any outdoor activities that require hours on our feet. They are much better than regular flip flops, and during hot days they help keep your temperature levels low. I wear these Tevas for most of the day, and then I swap them out at night for my Brooks running shoes

What Else Should I Pack for a Day in the Park?

Whether we like it or not, COVID is still around, and it doesn’t look like it is going anywhere for quite some time. One thing that we are always certain to bring anywhere we go with crowds or that is indoors is our masks. Both my husband and I wear these awesome KN95 masks from Evolve Together. They are good for two full days of use before they are thrown out. I have a crazy tiny (or should I say petite) face and the kids KN95 fit me perfectly. I would love it if my 6- year-old would also wear the Evolve Together masks, however, she does not like them. After trying a ton of different masks for her, we have finally found the perfect fit with the Happy Masks brand. The kids small is a perfect fit, and they are just as safe as a KN95 which brings us a lot of peace of mind, especially because we are flying.

We also have packed quite a few small bottles of hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. Our 6 year old touches everything. Being at Disneyland, we know that she will find it almost impossible not to touch each and everything that she comes across, and we can not spend our entire trip in the bathroom washing her hands after each encounter with a brick, rail, or statue that she just had to touch.

Below is a list of other items we just can’t leave home without:

  • Masks

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Clorox wipes

  • Band-aides and moleskin for blisters

  • Tylenol/ Motrin

  • Antacids

  • Water bottles (so we can fill them at the parks)

  • Waist bag

  • Backpack - we love this backpack/cooler combo!

  • Sunblock

  • Phone/ watch charging cords

  • External charger for when your phone runs out of battery

  • Snacks - We love all of the Made Good products and treats by Annie's. We also love the vegan and gluten free cookies from Partake.

  • A change of clothes for each family member - The great thing about Disneyland is that they have pretty large lockers that you can rent for the day. You can access the locker as many times as you want throughout the day. We leave clothes for each family member in that locker, along with our extra shoes and anything else we don’t want to carry with us all day long.

  • Glow sticks for night time fun

While not needed for a day running around the Disneyland parks, we will also be bringing a ton of vitamins and elderberry/ zinc to keep our family in tip top shape while surrounded by thousands of people.

Now that you have a list of what to wear and what to bring into the park, you are ready for your Disneyland fun! We know we go for the kids…but let’s face it, it’s called the Happiest Place on Earth for a reason!

Bottoms Up!
