"The power of intention: How to set achievable goals for the school year

Intntions.png

It is that time of year again! The time we open up our brand new teacher plan book from ban.do and begin to prepare for the up and coming school year. Aside from prepping our planners with all the fun stickers and noting all of the important dates and days off throughout the school year, we also take time for one more very important step.

Intuition is one of the great gifts we have as human beings. But it only works if we heed it.

Setting our intentions for the year:

We are true believers in the power of manifestation. If we dream it, we can achieve it. Laura Lynn Jackson,  a world renowned psychic medium and author, as well as a high school English teacher, wrote in her book The Light Between Us  that she often will begin a new year with a set of intentions. We loved the idea so much that we knew we had to apply that same idea when prepping our plan book for the year.

After smudging our classrooms and cleansing our space from the previous year, we take time to write down all of our intentions for the up and coming school year. It is on that page that we manifest the year that we wish to have. The more specific we are, the better. We write down our intentions for ourselves and for our students. You may be asking yourselves do your intentions ever change from year to year? And the answer is: yes. Every year. Each and every year we have a new set of intentions. Sometimes we may recycle parts of our past intentions, but we also always include new intentions.

We look back on our intentions from time to time throughout the year. It is a great reminder, and it helps to ground us when we are in the middle of a particularly stressful day, week, or month. So, as you begin to get ready for the up and coming school year, why not give it a try? Write down your intentions, both for yourself, and your students. You might be surprised at how truly accurate they become for you.
